Introducing My Self

“When we touch curiosity, we graze the rim of infinite possibility.”
— Ralph De La Rosa

About Me

I was born in the Atherton Tablelands and grew up in the beautiful village of Kuranda. I spent my childhood exploring the creeks, rivers, rainforests and surrounding bushlands. When I wasn’t out in nature with my family and friends, I was immersed in many different creative projects involving paint, clay, pen/pencil and drawing pad, found materials, pretty much anything that was on hand at the time that I could make something with.

After finishing high school, I travelled abroad to the UK and several countries in Europe for a couple of years. My professional journey from the time I returned to Cairns until this day has weaved together the fabric of my value system and identity. Bringing years of experience working in the women’s legal service and domestic violence supports, coupled with special needs education support, I am able to channel my passion for genuine, compassionate care, advocacy when needed, instilling hope, and fostering growth after trauma through my two favorite avenues: the arts and nature!

I took to the books (or laptop) and completed a Bachelor of Art Therapy through IKON Institute Australia where I learnt about the incredible capacity that the creative process has to heal and improve one’s quality of life through a range of different modalities: drama, visual & dimensional arts, dance & movement therapy, sand-tray, and play-based interventions amongst many others. Amidst my degree I completed the Ecopsychotherapy training from which I have subsequently completed further studies to become an Ecopsychotherapist. From this love of learning, I have continued along the pathway of expanding my skillset & knowledge, and am currently studying the processes of Dialect Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to infuse into my practice where appropriate.

I truly believe that now is the time that we as a species need to remember as deeply as possible, our Earthly roots; where we have come from, and where we may return to for sustenance and a re-awakening as such, about just how wonderful our Earth is, and how wonderful WE are… tapping in to our innate capacity to discover what it is we need to move forward in life and to travel along a pathway which brings us joy and contentment through deep listening to our Self and to nature.

“The ways we think, feel, perceive, imagine, and act have arisen in attunement to the rhythms of the day and the turning of the seasons and in intimate relationship with myriad other life-forms and forces. Although in everyday Western life we might feel cut off from our wild Earthly roots and relationships, it nevertheless remains true that the deep structures of our human psyche - the underlying patterns, universal archetypes, innate capacities available to us all, and, yes, even the distinctive ways we are psychologically wounded and fragmented - have emerged from this living web”.
